  Oh my stars!!!  That’s the most incredible and amazing true story I’ve ever heard!  It’s sad that back then poor folks didn’t know the value of a “shiny yellow doorstop”……. but they knew the need for a new dress for Ma and shoes for the yunguns!  They knew the need for the necessary & needful things were much more important then a “yellow shiny stone” from the creek bed.  JD, thank you so very much for sharing this amazing true story!  Abundant Blessings to you & your family!  ✝️😊❤️

  Great story Jd. I live in Lincolnton, N.C. and went to Reed's gold mine when I was younger. Most outsiders don't know about this story. Thank you for telling it.

  We have a story about my 3rd great grandfather who found gold in Dahlonega, GA. Lots of history here in our small town. I love hearing these stories.

  I live about 10 miles from the Reed Gold Mine! <br>We had a hotel in town where Thomas Edison stayed one night going to collect gold as a possible filament for the light bulb.<br>WE ARE NOT IN APPALACHIA. <br>WE ARE IN THE PIEDMONT. <br>There are some decent hills, but if you&apos;re thinking real mountains like Boone or ski slopes that is wrong.<br>The Reed Gold Mine is about 40 miles east of Charlotte, the foothills and mountains about 70 miles north of Charlotte.<br>Cabarrus County.<br>KUH-BEAR-US County.
