  This all comes down to tone-policing. And I&apos;m effing tired of it. It&apos;s something that drives me nuts whenever I get into an argument with someone about this stuff. It&apos;s an escape hatch for them when they have no valid argument. It&apos;s like an ad hominem attack where they try to invalidate your argument because they don&apos;t like the tone in which you frame it. &quot;Your stupid idea of a flat earth is refuted by x&quot; is the same argument as &quot;Flat earth is refuted by x&quot;. But they clutch pearls and decry your position because you&apos;re being &quot;rude&quot;. Eff them and their weak sensibilities. They want to take away human rights with a smile, but cannot handle a verbal lashing.
