  Had a red '65 Beetle  back in the day.  A girl in Ventura, Ca. wanted a ride to Santa Paula at 11 PM.  We jumped on the Santa Paula freeway, and it took 5  minutes to finally hit 72 mph.  50 hp and 4-speed .  BUT,  I got a big kiss out of the deal at 17 years old .

  Change the plugs to NGK B6HS plugs(one step colder than stock) and run your wastegate from the outlet on the turbo, if it's more boost than you want run the boost controller. That's what has always worked for us with our bugs. We usually run a t25 or t3 turbo, but looking at the specs of the fiat turbo they seem to be similar.

  Rebuilt everything on my 70 when I was 18. Trust me when I say you gotta ditch the shiftomatic and go with a normal 4 speed. They’re so easy to swap out and the extra gear/control is 100% worth it.

  I have owned over a dozen bugs. My best one was a turboed 2400cc and went 10.6 in 1/4 mile. I owned a bunch of type 4 Porsche  powered ones as well.
