I think the main reason he hasn’t been considered by top 3-4 teams since basically 2016 is that everyone assumed he’d retire in one or two years time, and they didn’t look for a temporary but a permanent solution that’d benefit them for many years to come.

So much potential and yet so many burnt bridges.

Regardless of how it ends 2 world championships and 32 wins is still very respectable and legendary not many f1 drivers in the history can say that

I was really hoping he’d get the Red Bull seat so we could know if that second seat is cursed. A few years in a good car.

He is a 2 time champion. That is more than 99.9% of all the racing drivers will achieve. He could have done more but it is what it is.

He's doing a good job of not being too vocal at Aston

I think the fact he's been managed by Flavio Briatore throughout his entire career gave Alonso a bigger ego that made him think he's invincible. Flavio guided him the wrong way since Renault and Alonso has no one to blame but himself for continuing to make himself bigger than he was.

There is no doubt that Alonso deserves more than 2 titles, but it's his fault that he chose the wrong teams

His biggest mistake was to play a politician in 2007 end leave the team at the end of that year. If he stayed calm and cool he could be the champ that season and had no reason to leave them and could have won in 2008 as well.

It’s such a frustrating career to look back on. You can’t deny the raw talent, but this video makes a really compelling case that he’s often been his own worst enemy when it comes to team dynamics and politics. A truly fascinating, if somewhat tragic, legacy.
