  I had the pleasure of eating at Slovenia’s Hisa Franko restaurant in Kobarid a couple of years ago - a few months before it received its third Michelin star. It was phenomenal!!! We were staying in northern Italy and drove into Slovenia for dinner but I’ve been wanting to go back to Slovenia ever since!

  Good info! I am thinking of trying to get 'citizenship by descent' there. My grandparents emmigrated from there to the US, but that was back in the late 1800s (yes, I'm elderly)! They came from Zuzemberk just outside of Ljubljana where they owned a farm that is still in the family. I've never been there but have loved it from afar. My father spoke the language (his 1st language ). I really want to move to Europe but the bureaucracy in Slovenia may be a hurdle too high. It would probably make more sense to get a long-stay visa in another country even though I feel a close connection to Slovenia. Thanks for the video! Lahko noc ❤

  Since leaving the US my base has been in Austria. We did buy a property in Slovenia a few years ago in Piran. The process was straightforward and we haven’t been confronted with any issues as mentioned in your video. Perhaps the laws have changed. Let’s face it, many countries don’t want to be overrun by immigrants. I imagine it will only get worse with the tariff war. I have friends in Switzerland and Portugal and they are experiencing some issues.

  since i am from slovenia .... retirees that have 2000$ proof of income , can apply for residency , soon the digital nomad visa will come with similar conditions ... and if you are &nbsp;in working age ofcourse you must be usefull if you want to come live here - either to work for a firm or open your own and start makeing it on your own :D ..... taxes are brutal but so are the benefits coming from those taxes :D
