  You forgot to mention one thing. The weather. Riverside, Ceres, Porterville..all are hot as balls for 8 months of the year

  Hanford also has/had a Del Monte warehouse south of town. Now that Del Monte has declared bankruptcy, I imagine there's even fewer jobs there.

  Torrance california . In the late 70s i was stationed in torrance .lived in a new house when you wake up your eyes burn and you could taste the pollution . I live way up nothern california were you can smell weeds and trees.

  Hanford is close to the Lemoore Naval Air Station.  Housing in Riverbank is top heavy with new homes which explains the prices.

  I grew up in Watsonville and moved to Visalia when I was in my 30's. All of what you said is absolutely true about both cities. I love the city of Visalia cleanliness and its people compared to other central valley cities. The downfall is certainly the air pollution especially this year. Visalia is growing with plenty of jobs being created monthly.

  As someone that moved to Bakersfield from LA, no regrets. I love it here by comparison, and the air quality is pretty much always a couple percentage points from LA&apos;s. And while I once had to deal with a 114°f summer, it still more tolerable than an 80° LA summer with its humidity.
