What Woolworths Doesn't Want You To Know - The Collapse Of Woolworths

The collapse of Woolworths is not a literal corporate collapse—but Woolworths is facing a serious period of margin pressure, declining profit, regulatory scrutiny, and growing questions about how Australia's supermarket giant makes and protects its money. This investigation goes behind the headlines to examine the real financial and competitive pressures facing Woolworths, separating confirmed findings from allegations, disputed claims, and ordinary retail strategy. You'll learn how Woolworths generated $69.1 billion in sales while producing roughly $1.39 billion in net profit in FY2025, why its profit fell sharply, and how scale, supplier negotiations, eCommerce, advertising, and other parts of its business model contribute to its earnings. We also examine the ACCC's pricing case involving 266 products and the Federal Court's separate ruling against Coles' “Down Down” promotions, while making clear that Woolworths' case remained unresolved at the time covered by the script. The investigation then moves through supplier relationships, Everyday Rewards and customer data, Member Prices, shrinkflation, Aldi and independent retailers, and the changing competitive landscape of Australian supermarkets. Most importantly, this video explains why “Woolworths collapse” is better understood as a story of corporate pressure and accountability, not insolvency. You'll also get practical ways to compare grocery prices, spot misleading value signals, evaluate loyalty discounts, and make smarter shopping decisions. This investigation follows the money behind Woolworths and examines the pressures affecting Australia's supermarket sector. It covers Woolworths' financial performance, promotional pricing controversy, supplier relationships, loyalty-program economics, shrinkflation, changing shopper behaviour, and the company's response under CEO Amanda Bardwell. The video also puts Woolworths in the wider context of Australia's concentrated grocery market and recent regulatory reforms, including the mandatory Food and Grocery Code and new excessive-pricing provisions. The conclusion focuses on what consumers can actually do: compare unit prices, question promotional “was” prices, evaluate member discounts against competitors, and spread purchases across retailers when genuine savings exist.
