I'm a year late commenting and have read the other comments. It's so nice to know that I'm not alone. This is my favorite music, PERIOD! I'm 61 years old, studied piano and music production at Berklee, and this music heavily influenced everything that everyone was doing at the time. I STILL listen to all of this music frequently and I'm still blown away by every single note. I still can't believe that Chick is gone but what he and his colleagues left behind will be cherished forever.

The first Elektric Band album is one of my favorite records of all time. I was fortunate to experience the entire album live in concert back in November 1986. And as a bonus the show was opened by the Allan Holdsworth trio.

Chick was a smart marketer too ... He always made sure to present himself on his records to evoke what was happening ... This record actually had a music video for one of the tunes too (electric city) and it's an epic slice of the 80's bro ...

MIDI and synths were all the rage right when CDs appeared. Elektric Band was among the first CDs I bought. Not a fan of "jazz" before it, I immediately became a massive fusion fan. After hearing Joe Satriani on the radio in 1987, I switched from keys to guitar, but I was captured again by MIDI and synths after Allan Holdsworth's Sand: his pure SynthAxe album without a note from an actual keyboard on it.
