My dad was a safety officer, he was the first one in each AM with the Davies lamp that detected gasees of methane and carbon dioxide. Ive been down in a mine luckily as a visitor. Dad used to take me in on the AM inspections. It was dark and cold in the AM. By noon it was hot the deeper you went. The talking timbers predicted a cave in. Imagine now, no piece of lumber is gonna hold back the mine. Talking timbers gave you a few seconds to boot scoot right up thr gangway behind the rats
