  PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING!!<br>Hey guys, I didn&apos;t think I&apos;d have to do this again, but here we go: <br>I do not like Notch, he was a lazy developer and has his own issues I won&apos;t be going into detail about. Please do not make assumptions about me because I said a developer&apos;s name. If you knew me in person, you would know I am far from those very reserved opinions. In retrospect, I really wish I said Jeb without Microsoft, because that&apos;s what I really meant. I do not think Microsoft LITERALLY controls Mojang, I never said that. What I meant about Microsoft&apos;s control, was the pressure that Microsoft puts on Minecraft to stay successful, and it&apos;s the main reason that I SPECULATE that we get visually finished updates that lack in functionality in Minecraft&apos;s big game of chess. Last, but certainly not least, yeah, my editing software failed to render a frame, and I know it&apos;s the Poppy.   Something i think is unusual about minecraft is that their promotional material uses a plasticy style with extensive use of shaders, while the actual game has a painterly style with a very simple lighting engine

  in defence of the deepslate texture just being a recolour of stone, bedrock was also just a recolour, so the pack was probably trying to simulate a transition between stone and bedrock. notch may have just done the same if he had created caves and cliffs.

  Minecraft is the only game where people complain about it looking BETTER instead of hideous. I grew up during the Notch era. The new textures are vastly better and people were complaining about the updates Notch were pushing at the time too. That’s why we have the “Better than Wolves” mod

  I keep thinking this, but the best thing about Minecraft, specifically Java, is that you can still play older versions. If Microsoft ever took that away from us, there would be massive uproar.

  When most people hear &quot;8-bit artstyle&quot; they think of a low resolution. Maybe even something as specific as 16x16 pixel tiles, if they do their homework. But a lesser-known aspect of an 8-bit artstyle is color palette limitations. Minecraft&apos;s classic textures were actually made with this in mind. If you go and count how many colors are used for any given texture, you&apos;ll find that the old textures almost always use fewer than the new ones. The shading on the old textures has bigger jumps in brightness, while the new ones have so many in-between shades that it genuinely looks less blocky. So this isn&apos;t just a matter of the new textures &quot;feeling&quot; off, they genuinely have abandoned a central component of the game&apos;s art direction!

  Thank you for showcasing my resource pack, Golden Days, in your video. I do think most of your criticisms are not baseless. <br>To comment on the deepslate -- if I could make deepslate just be stone, I would. That&apos;s why it&apos;s just a darker recolor. Stone variants by themselves are so un-beta to me that I have to make the compromise between design and color. However, I do not like to stray too far from the blocks original color for builders. I don&apos;t want to make builds look ugly for the person using the pack or the people looking at their builds without the pack, you know?<br>And for the lighting -- yeah, it&apos;s dark. The reason it looks so much darker to you is 1. it does not respect brightness level and 2. it recreates the old Beta lighting engine. Modern lighting adds the block light and the sky light to get a final value. That means you only need 8 BL and 8 SL to get max brightness in an area. Beta lighting only had one value for lighting. This means that the lighting takes the higher of the two values instead of adding them. So an area with 8 BL and 8 SL will still only have a final brightness of 8.<br>The Creaking is a very recent addition to the pack so I&apos;m happy that I can still deliver haha. Stuff like the Warden and Sculk in general are so un-beta that I would rather leave them untextured until inspiration strikes. I would rather someone complain that they aren&apos;t done than complain about something I&apos;ve changed.<br>I do appreciate you showing off the pack in the video. I still can&apos;t believe how big Golden Days has become. I&apos;ve been working on that pack since 2017 and only published it in 2020. The support has been astounding. Thank you again.
