  It’s never toast with fish and chips. &nbsp;It has to be soft and fresh white bread. &nbsp;Lemon on fish but not chips. &nbsp;Salt and vinegar can be on both.<br>Chippy is just a normal term used for a fish and chip shop.

  You are never more than 80 miles from the sea in Britain so fresh sea fish is easy to get.<br>Chippy is the shop.

  It has to be specifically Malt Vinegar on chips, it doesn’t work with other types of vinegar.

  People know what to expect when they order fish and chips anywhere in the country.<br>In a Chippie people usually eat their chips with salt and vinegar.<br>People tend yo put lemon on steamed or baked fish, and vinegar on battered fish.
