  The players of that era all knew he was the best player. He struck fear in the opposition. He would’ve eaten this generation of players alive.

  Larry IS one of the BEST BASKETBALL players of all-time.   No exceptions.  Saying “white basketball player” diminishes how great he is.

  The eastern conference in Bird’s era was by far the toughest. It’s Bird all day, every day, twice on Sundays.

  Larry was the most FEARED player of the 80's. To me that speaks the most about who he was and his abilities.

  I'll stand by it every time... He would be the best player in the NBA today.  Easily.  6'10", maybe 6'9", small forward.  10 RPG in his career when the lane was PACKED, genius player, much more athletic than he got credit for,  very very good defender (3x All-Defense), great shooter, one of the best passers ever, and a hatred of losing on the level of a hired military assassin.  He crushed souls.  3x consecutive MVP who finished in the top-2 6 or 7 times, top-3 9 times .  He was and is one of the greatest ever to touch a basketball.

  As a southern woman who was in high school when Larry rose to prominence, we used to say that about not seeing color. What it means is, "I can see what color you are. I'm not blind. But I just don't CARE what color you are. I care WHO you are."
