Jack I hope your career trajectory doesn't stop you giving us your honest subjective opinions on books - we are surrounded especially online with people selling us things and telling us how great they are so we just want to see real views and real opinions. The lack of footnotes seems ridiculous. It sounds more like a translator who has forgotten their duty. They are there to bridge the gap between two languages and cultures. If I wanted to Google words I'd read it in the original text.
