  I honestly think Squall is the obvious answer on the surface, but Ultimecia’s entire existence feels like the result of a world trapped in fear and isolation. People feared sorceresses so much that she basically became the monster everyone expected her to be.<br><br>That said, Irvine’s breakdown during the assassination mission hit me harder than most moments in the game because he remembered everything while everyone else forgot. Carrying all that alone must’ve been brutal.

  A shared trauma, different coping mechanisms. This always was at the core of the game, as the story unfold, pieces of a broken puzzle coming into place.

  This game had an immeasurable effect on 14 year old me. For the longest time I saw myself as squall. 40 year old me knows I am seifer, but with no happy ending.
