  I'm so glad I grew up in the '80's and got to enjoy movies like Robocop, Terminator, Alien(s), Rocky and Predator when these things were made as serious artistic projects.

  Verhoeven also didn't want to make "RoboCop", but his wife read the script and told him to give it a chance - "His wife played a crucial role in his career, as she persuaded him to read the script for RoboCop after he initially dismissed it as "stupid garbage" and threw it away, urging him to see its deeper, satirical substance.". There's a great 4-part making of documentary called "RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop", I recommend it for everyone who liked the original movie.

  The reboot could’ve been way better had it been rated R. I’ve never bothered with the third one. The second one is severely underrated. It is nothing like the first one but it is batshit crazy and I love every minute of it.

  robocop was part of my childhood, i remember imitating the robocop walk around the house 😂

  I’d also credit Robocop 2 with the scene of Caine interrupting the mob meeting with the mayor. It was absolutely terrifying as a kid and the stark contrast with how robocop walked in to handle a crowd of thugs which was themed heroic while caine’s systematic tracking down of everyone in the dark played more like a horror movie scene.

  I probably never would have noticed this if I didn't collect movie posters as a kid, but here's something I've never heard anyone comment on while talking about Robocop: The movie where the evil corporation was called "OCP" was produced by "Orion Pictures Corporation". I have no idea if this is a coincidence and the name was in the script before Orion bought it, or if it's a dig at the suits trying to control Verhoeven's vision.

  Robocop Rogue City did really well because it brought back the feeling of the 1st movie.

  Prime Directives always gets underrated and under-spoken about but their heart was in the right place when making them and it shows

  For me, the franchise is the original Robocop, Robocop 2 and Robocop Rogue City.

  Even with the fun satire Robocop 1987 was deadly serious. Murphy's execution scene at the start is still memorable to this day.

  1987 all the way!! paul verhoeven had an epic run with Robocop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers!! it makes for 1 amazing evening!!

  There's an excellent RoboCop 3 fanedit out there called The Weller Cut that somehow redeemed the movie for me. You should've covered RoboCop Rogue City even though it's a video game. Peter Weller returned as RoboCop and the story takes place between the second and third movie.
