The main message for me is don’t put yourself in financial trouble because of your wedding. Life continues the next day.

A big wedding will never ever appeal to me. NEVER EVER😅😅😅. I would spend it on a house easily

And have you noticed as well that the grooms are completely lost in the big weddings? It's supposed to be a couple swearing lifelong love, but the more that gets spent on the wedding, the more it turns into the bride's family and friends playing dress-up together.

I got married in 2000. The whole thing, including my dress and my husband’s suit, flowers, cake etc cost £930. Everyone took their own cars there. My husband and I took a cab there and back. The reception was in my back garden and my mum and best friend made the food whilst my brother supplied the champagne. Everyone bought their own cameras and developed the photos and sent them to me. It was cheap, fun and perfect.

Before queen Vctoria's wedding, brides used to wear dresses that were Pink,Red,Brown and black dresses, which is kinda ironic considering it's now unusual to wear any other color besides white for your "special day"

I have an allergy to the fact that women see a wedding day as “their day”. Ma’am, everyday can be your day. How small and sad that women see the wedding day as their only time to shine. Ladies, marriage is a serious thing. My mother always said “if you want a new dress, a piece of jewelry and a party, just do that. You don’t need to get married to have that” and she was right 😊

***I have never had so many likes on a comment! I know we don’t all agree and that’s ok. I appreciate everyone who shared their point of view ☺️

I’ve worked weddings over this past summer, and without a doubt this one bride stood out to me. She had a ceremony with just 5 people, including the groom. Essentially an elopement. Her dress was simple and she loved exploring the venue itself (a botanical garden), with her new husband. She told me that they had been together for 6 years and just wanted to tie the knot without any drama or issues. She and the Groom seemed over the moon. She was so gleeful and graceful. No nervousness, no drama, just pure bliss.
Normally, I would want to follow her footsteps, but I come from an absolutely giant family, and not including them would make me a sacrifice to my ancestors. Of course I’m just bluffing, but it just goes to show that less can be more!

This is so true. I don’t feel the love in most weddings that get documented online. Social media has ruined how we consume weddings.

I think she hit it on the head with "this is the only time a woman will be able to wear a formal gown" in a ballroom. That's pretty much it.

I think it’s also important to mention the impact Disney princesses have on the wedding industry. Growing up, I remember thinking Cinderella was beautiful when she married Prince Charming. I dreamed of the fairy tale like many young girls do.

Was invited to a luxury wedding last summer in south of France. Costed me a fortune as a guest, I don't wish to know what the family did spend on the whole thing. 200 guests! Absolutely ridiculous and yes, love was missing.

Speaking about bachelor/ette parties, I don’t get why do people say it’s “your last day being single”. Weren’t they already in a relationship before tying the knot completely?
