Thanks for the great info. Do you recommend the UGreen car charger and 3rd party PD USB C cable over the Starlink Mini car adapter to use in a cigarette lighter 12-24V DC? I assume both would do the same thing and would provide the power at the specs needed.

load in causes voltage drop and heat, the higher the voltage, the lower the amps required to get the same amount of power..

This was the best explanation I've seen on the power needs and ways to get there. Thanks.

Hi Dave
Great info. I just got a mini and haven’t been bald ho make it work off 12v.
I’ve got a jack that says it will do 140w 20v5a anda 5m cable that says 20v5a 100w. Get blue light but I then just drops out constantly. (Light goes out and then back on.). Have tried off car cig jack and also a kings 36ah power pack in cig port and also it’s usb c jack that says it can do 100w.
I’m stuck with what to do except get an inverter and see if it runs on 240v from car (I have the set up except inverter to make that work.
Runs fine on 240v.
Any thoughts?
Chris

Thank you. I have the Starlink Mini and a small power station (300w?) for my mobile office. I am looking to upgrade and you've given me the math.

May I offer something back? I'm in a Teardrop trailer so I set up my mobile desk on picnic tables or the like. My screens suffer from a lot of glare which means I must turn up the brightness and use more power. I have bought a "Sun Beach Tent for Puppy" A black one from Temu. My screens fit inside and glare is GONE. Thanks for your tips.

The drill battery idea sounds perfect. I already have a few makita batteries hanging around so I ordered a converter off Amazon that converts the 18V battery to 100W 20V USB C PD, along with a suitable 5m cable.

Why on earth would you want to hike dragging a battery and antenna with you?
I thought you hike to see nature, and get away from this crap…. You bringing a desk, coffee maker, and printer also?

Thanks for the information. I’m going with a 2m cable that connects straight to the 12.8 V LIPOFE4 battery isolation switch on our boat.
