Oh Hannah!! My mom, who.passed away two years ago, at the age of 88, always called our everyday clothes "play clothes"! We had play clothes, school clothes,  and our Sunday best! I miss her, and hearing play clothes brought memories flooding back! I think she called our work clothes "play clothes " to make chores seem less like work. She was a smart one, my mum!

I had to comment on how much I adored your “ode to the washing line” segment!!! I had a big cheesey smile on my face the entire time! Thank you for this! It was indeed beautiful! ❤❤❤

Oof. You make me so happy for modern-day cleaning equipment! Although I do make and use my own cleaning solutions (learned the hard way modern bottled cleaners trigger asthma attacks and hives, so thank you, Granny, for showing me how.) I also do all my chores in “play clothes”. Highlight of my day is coming home and putting on play clothes and it has been for 60 years! And I loved “Ode to a Clothesline.” Love you, Hannah!❤

How's this for a 1940s ( and later) routine that my Grandma did? She would get up at 5, air her bed while my Grandfather slept in his . She'd go downstairs,  light the coalfire( later gas fire) in the front room and clean the frontroom, the backroom and leanto. My Grandfather got up at 6. While he was in the bathroom Grandma had a wash down and did her teeth inthe little kitchen as breakfast cooked. My Grandfather , their lodger and my Dad as a boy were down for breakfast by 7 at least.  By 8 Grandma was alone again. She'd wash up, go up and dress, make all beds, tidy wastebaskets and ashtrays .Then dust upstairs before carpet sweeping . By 930 all housework was done. There was nowhere to clean clothes so she used a launderette . She then went shopping and later did ironing, baking and preparing dinner. And drank a botle of whiskey before 930am!!!!!!!!

I definitely prefer floorboards with rugs strategically placed around the house.

I’m a huge fan from Australia 🇦🇺. I love me a floor board they are so much cleaner and it gets so hot here but the floor boards are much cooler. Thank you for your video Hannah 😊

Both this and your cooking video are wonderfully shot and edited and are incredibly informative. They also show why, in my personal opinion, a vintage-inspired life is better than a life recreating olden times. There's too much I enjoy about life in 2026 to give up because I enjoy the aesthetic of post-war time.

Airing the beds has always been an absolute must, my nan was born 1913, she taught me how to make beds with proper corners after airing and I taught my kids ( window open no matter the weather), I also remember very fondly her soapy wash 'stick' used to agitate and move the washing, I loved helping her round the house, especially using the sweeper and hanging clothes on the horse! I miss her very much...
