  If you think of it, If Riley was awakened earlier, and was informed to go to the Aurora, he could've died from either the Reapers or explosion

  One thing to point out here, the Aurora had 50 lifepods, they have 2 seats.  The Aurora had a crew of 157.  57 people were not getting off that ship even in a perfect abandonment.

  Lifepod 4. Poor bro was 99% certain to become Reaper food, and if he somehow beat those odds, he had the choice of death by radiation or the impending explosion. The odds were merciless and cruel to him

  Actually, only Yu was eaten. Keen makes a voice log stating she was attacked and to presume him lost at sea. Keen was killed by a warper

  I actually think Lifepod 4 did make it onto the Aurora. He just got got by the cave crawlers after he got there. The PDA mentions that the preliminary scans of the digestive tracts of the cave crawlers aboard the Aurora contain human tissue. This could argue be a result of them scavenging the corpses of the dead crew members, explaining why we don’t find any bodies, but they are very much not just scavengers, and they are perfectly happy with attacking living humans.

  I always suspected Alterra cut corners in the lifepods. The lifepods should be made safe for entering the atmosphere. If the internal damage so high, that means they were not designed properly. Riley could have died in that fire or flying debris, good thing he was just unconscious. Also, only 2 of all these actually stayed afloat.

  The luckiest ones were honestly the ones who died instantly. Everyone else but the player went out in pretty horrible ways.
