Another issue with doing a roth conversion is before 65 is it can put you over the ACA cliff and you will pay 2k a month for healthcare.

💯 agreed. I’m planning on semi-retiring in 4 years and plan to limit my income to 80K so the healthcare cost stays under 900 bucks a month . Dividends will cover most of my income. I may keep working part time doing Consulting. Retiring 7 years early will give me a chance to travel while healthy (God willing). I have had too many friends die before they could enjoy their retirement money. Retire if you can asap.

What this message always lacks is the answer to this... "What if Mike and Allison, at 65, arehigh-income earners, at the peaks of their careers?" That is, they are in high tax brackets already, because of their success. They never had a "window" to make Roth conversions before social security.

This video is very helpful! One item that was not touched upon: if Mike and Allison had a big savings number, why did they wait until their mid 60’s? They gave up some golden active retirement years to keep compiling savings.

Agree retirement is many, many decisions. I can see why some people let someone else manage their money.

We retired early from investing in Bitcoin and the Stock Market years before 62. We do our own Investing and our Accounts double every 5 years regardless of the Market or Economy. Starting Social Security at 62 allows the Retirement Accounts to Grow Untouched. That Growth squashes waiting for additional Social Security. Do your own Math before Roth conversions. Converting before 65 will wipe out the ACA subsidies. We saved over $200k dollars in total health care costs! RMDS are easily offset by SWPs to the top of the tax bracket in early years. Most Financial Advisor software doesn't account for deductions from your income. Converting 1 million dollars will result in about a $200k tax bill regardless of how you spread it out. That $200k invested for 20 years grows to over 1.2 Million more than covering the taxes.

This guy starts the video with a COMPLETE MYTH that 100% of US employees work for companies that offered pensions and stayed with the company long enough to make the benefit meaningful. If you exclude government employees at their absolute peak only about 40% of private sector employees were covered by a pension. And prior to 1973 there. Were almost no rules around vesting or funding. Once ERISA was passed it was a death sentence for defined benefit plans. By 1980, when the deindustrialization exploded, the number started dropping significantly. And the then the accounting profession grew a backbone and passed adopted new accounting and disclosure standards and it was only a matter of time. And BTW, the average private sector plan only covered 25-40% (at the absolute maximum) of an employees base pay. No one took 2 week European river cruises, played golf 3 days a week and bought a second house in Florida for the winters on their GM pension.

How are your fees determined Flat Fee or percentage of assets under management or do get commissions on products sold?

You have no idea if the current tax rates and brackets are lower or higher than they will be 5, 10, 20, 30 years from now. So how can you say that the next 4 years is any kind of "windiw"?
