When a comedian's joke fails to get a laugh, he is said to "die". One particularly dire comic was said by a critic to have "died more times than Captain Scarlet".

I always thought that in Captain Scarlet you were far safer being the literal target of the mysteron's threats than being some random truck driver.

I think the best way to put Capt Black...is only "mostly" dead

Supermarionation, huh? Over here, we just call it Italy.

I sometimes think that a lot of Spectrum's problems in some episodes would be improved by simple security procedures... especially in Flight to Atlantica; someone who asked the simple question "Who sent this champagne?" would probably have prevented the whole issue.

And then of course not building the control tower outside of the security perimeter would have been a better idea.

I got the impression from the New Captain Scarlet animated series that Captain Black was still very much alive and conscious, but under Mysteron control, and was forced to witness the results of his actions against humanity as a form of torture.
It would explain why he looks so pale and haggard.
Anderson could be REALLY dark sometimes...😁

It's been confirned that Captain Scarlet's original body was taken away where he was revived as a Mysteron reconstruction. After the accident of his fall, his original personality re-surfaced in the new body, and THAT is the Captain Scarlet that survived in every episode.

That whole "Mysterons get dispatched by a single bullet" thing annoyed me even when I was a kid. My headcanon is that the Mysterons only make a character indestructible if they think they have more use for them. So Spectrum captains get made indestructible (except Captain Brown), random truck drivers not so much.

I loved Captain Scarlet. My brother was actually named after two characters, Richard which was the civilian name of Captain Ochre, and Adam which was the civilian name of Captain Blue.

At 21:00, "by car crash"? The driver was atomized on impact. The FX crew played with fire in that episode.

I think it's a shame that Captain Scarlet doesn't have quite the same level of character comedy as Thunderbirds - less variety in plots too, far too many "the Mysterons attack a thing" going on. Episodes like the heart of New York are welcome because they try and spice it up a bit! great overview!
