  Hey DnDShorts, the reason the Matt Mercer Subclass and the Gunner class are so similar is because each essentially pulls from the earlier Gunslinger class in Pathfinder (which Matt directly translated from for Percy). A resource for specialty shots, bonuses at a distance, especially for crits and hits, and Fighter level Martial skills in many cases. Seriously, the Gunslinger was really cool in Pathfinder.

  Now, to be fair to Matt Mercer&apos;s &quot;Misfire&quot; rule, aside from being Matt&apos;s way to balance the powerful guns, it made sense in their game from a story perspective because Percival Etcetera Etcetera de Rollo&apos;s guns were experimental prototypes that he had just invented and were still in the process of testing.

  FYI, Matt Mercer&apos;s Gunslinger is a conversion and adaptation of the 1st Edition Pathfinder Gunslinger Class. Which gets grit which they use in order to perform Deeds, special actions unique to gunslingers, and has misfire as a mechanic with firearms. This does make sense considering Vox Machina was originally a Pathfinder 1st Edition campaign that was carried over into D&amp;D 5E.

  Ayyyy, the Gunner class! I work for Loot Tavern so it&apos;s great to see you showing off our stuff again, Will (like I didn&apos;t already know this video was coming lol). Just a small update on Double Tap&apos;s two bonus actions: we actually changed it so you can&apos;t make two an attack with the second bonus action to avoid situations like the Berserker where you&apos;re making 4 attacks at level 14 every round :) it was also an issue with two-weapon fighting and some other multiclass combos so we had to nerf it a bit!

  Otherworldly Patron: The Drifter is also a great option if you want to play a gun-lock
