  Twenty something years ago I bought a 30” cut Atco mower from a large estate in the north of England. It was made in the late 1960s and had been beautifully maintained by the gardeners on the estate. I used and cared for it for ten years then sold it to a cricket club in Kent where, I’m told, it’s still going strong. Those old machines were built to last and last unlike the throw away junk that’s sold today. <br>I’m glad there are people like you Richard giving these old machines a new lease of life.

  The mower smoked a bit, because when you break the seal of the piston rings you have to hone the cylinder and replace the rings.

  This made me laugh so hard thinking of the I Love Lucy episode where she gets stuck on one of these and ride it up town and through every garden on the neighborhood. 😂

  For the past twenty years I’ve been driving around my 1950s John Deere tractors at the Northwest Ohio Antique Machinery Show in Findlay Ohio. It’s the first weekend in August. I went in the early 1970s with my dad. Now I pull the shuttle around making memories for lots of people.

  2 stroke technology hasn&apos;t changed much in the last 50 years. Edit: Correction 72 years. My motorized bike used all the same design just newer. Same casting materials and all. Same coil, probably same port tuning as well I bet.

  My dad was telling me just the other day how his dad used to make small engine gaskets by laying the paper on the block or head and tap the outline to score or just cut through it. Trim it up a little and BINGO! Instant gasket.
