My wife and I are imagineering our future in our back yard where we are experimenting with gardening and preparing ourselves to be stewards of our local food forest environment. Around our home we are imagining how we can tend life so that the ground surrounding our home is filled with plants and life where we and guests can wander and sit and enjoy beauty and peacefulness. As David Holmgren recommends in Retrosuburbia, we are starting building the future we want to live in right out our own back door.

The “addiction” is not so much to “oil”. Humans are addicted to representative language and the delusion of being separate or distinct from Nature. This addiction requires the delusion of civilization and its viability.

Thank you Nate and Rob. I just shared this with an expecting mom, adding that I felt that this show was a must for anyone bringing a child into this world. The vision expressed here is breathtaking!

Rob was a guest speaker at my uni, and the change that his lecture brought to the morale of my fellow students was so heartwarming. Dealing with big world problems on a daily basis can be soul-destroying. Rob brought back the ray of hope we all needed. ❤

Best interview you’ve had Nate, more of this, fear is a poor motivator (of the right action), and often only works when it’s fear of immediate death. This guy nails the route for larger segments of the population doing the right work to blunt the point of what’s coming.

What an amazing range of interests: multiple suggestions of possible projects; grab ahold of one (or 3) that you can act on.

Showing people what is possible automatically makes them realise what is missing or not quite right by default and it also allows them to aim at something with a sense of hope and possibility rather than predominantly pointing to the failures in the world and leaving people depressed and angry, resulting in either resignation and apathy or tearing things down without replacements. Inspiration does take thought, know how and work but is possible and so worth it.
