  It would be exceptionally difficult to reach a computers level of accuracy without the computers themselves to provide feedback on your own moves. Players had to evaluate positions on their own, and Fischer's natural understanding of the game  allowed him to provide his own high level explanations of positions that no one had at the time.

  He is still top 5 in accuracy even today. 53 years ago. Which is crazy.

  He did it alone, by reading books in his room. His practice was done by himself, or in playtime with others. This is completely unheard of now.

  He hates chess because he knows how it became from an exciting and creative game to memorization of theories and openings. That's why he created Fischer Random to preserve the beauty of the game. What a legend. Goat indeed

  Fischer once published an article called "A Bust to the King's Gambit". After the article was published, no one played the King's Gambit against him for the rest of his career.

  I WAS IN THE CROWD OF THE  CLEVELAND BROWNS LA RAMS FOOTBALL GAME IN A SOLD OUT LA COLISEUM. WHEN THE ANNOUNCER CAME OVER THE LOUDSPEAKER AND ANNOUNCED THAT FISHER HAD BEATEN SPASSKY TO WIN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.  THE CROWD WENT NUTS!!!  ....AND THESE WERE FOOTBALL FANS!!!!

  Fischer is the goat. <br><br>After winning a tournament he addressed the audience and repeated every move of every game played in the tourney, over 1K moves and walked off.<br><br>A grandmaster friend said Fischer stopped at his table for a few seconds and left. <br><br>6 months later they saw each other and Fischer set up the end game that the gm played and showed him how to win correctly.<br><br><br>Soviets would agree to easy draws against each other to rest and fought Fischer tooth and nail colluding to help each other.<br><br><br>They had 90% of the world&apos;s grandmaster. Soviet subsidies to find and develop chess talent and Fischer had himself.<br><br>Spassky arrived with an entourage of Soviet GMs all tasked with taking his game apart.<br><br><br>Fischer had a few lower tier gm friends who accompanied him in Reykjavik.<br><br>Fischer carried a book with every game played by Spassky some 800 games.<br><br>Fischer would bet his friends to pay for dinner.<br><br>They would choose any game and he would recite every move.<br><br><br>He was able to perfeclty anunciate Iclandic without knowing the language and get translations by memory when he spoke to someone who spoke both.<br><br>Morphy was a super genius like Fischer<br><br>But Fischer took it to another level.

  You forgot to add that he played 20 year later again with borras basky and won it..... Without playing professional chess for 20 or some years like can you imagine the aura

  The fact that he accomplished this without support of the government, unlike the Russian interests in their own chess players, is remarkable! Shows that he was truly dominant!
