  The ‘it’s a warning of something could theoretically happen but can’t actually happen in real life’ is wild. The apostles spilled a lot of ink over something that wasn’t even possible to begin with

  As a Lutheran, this debate kinda made me mad. Trent clearly won and made a very strong argument for the truth of Scripture that you CAN IN FACT lose your salvation and Ryan couldn’t stop taking digs at Catholic Doctrine and proclaim Sola Fide, neither of which were the debate. And on Sola Fide, there are many Protestants, which hold Sola Fide, who absolutely hold you can lose your salvation. It’s taught in my own Lutheranism as well as in Anglican, Methodist, and even some Baptist circles. It’s only Calvinists and Calvin-Adjacent Christians that can make the “Once Saved Always Saved” or Perseverance of the Saints argument.<br>I don’t wish ill on Ryan or for anyone to be mean to him, but man he cannot debate apologetics when all he does is constantly change the topic of the debate.

  Catholicism must be living rent free in Ryan’s head because this debate wasn’t about Catholicism yet he kept bringing it up.

  I think it is funny that NeedGod thinks the Catholic system leads to uncertainty. When I was a Calvinist I had much more uncertainty because I never knew if I was one of the people who were truly saved or not. I had seen several friends who I thought were on fire for God (reading the Bible daily, praying daily, doing missions, etc) and had shown themselves to not be Christians, so who was to say I wasn&apos;t also deceiving myself into thinking I am saved? Now as a Catholic, I have no doubt in my mind at any given moment if I am in a state of grace or not. My mother (who also has converted and struggles with scruples) has had the same experience. There is so much freedom in the Catholic system.

  Imagine a bank telling me, &apos;If you stop making your payments, we&apos;ll repossess your car.&apos; Then assuring me, &quot;But don&apos;t worry, if you&apos;re really our customer, you&apos;ll never actually stop making payments.&quot;<br><br>Why warn me about something that is not possible? <br><br>Except that it IS possible that I might stop making payments.<br><br>Scripture&apos;s warnings read like real dangers, not impossible hypotheticals.
