  That little hand gesture from Troi must have taken an entire day for it to be approved. According to Frakes and the cast, improvising on set was strictly forbidden, and any unsolicited changes to the script had to go through a lot of production people. That was Rick Berman's steadfast rule, especially after Roddenberry became more and more absent.

  Chief Engineer Singh was played by Kavi Raz, who was a regular player on St. Elsewhere during the 1980s, one of the first Asian actors to get a regular starring role on a TV series.

Greg Jein Collection (1988–2021): Renowned model maker and prop collector Greg Jein acquired the miniature to restore and preserve it. It was occasionally loaned out for major public exhibitions—including a stint at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in 1992–1993 and the Hayden Planetarium in New York in 1993–1994—before returning to Jein&apos;s private collection. &nbsp; The 2023 Heritage Auction: Following Greg Jein&apos;s death in 2022, his vast historical collection of film and television memorabilia was cataloged and put up for public auction by Heritage Auctions in October 2023. The original miniature shuttlecraft was sold to a private collector for $225,000.

  Lonely Among Us might be the most prototypical season one TNG episode in that its comedy is bizarre, its characters fairly inconsistent, and its overall execution amounting to either dubious version of TOS or very 80s melodrama. Alaimo, Meaney, Picard&apos;s possession, and Data&apos;s fascination with Holmes almost feel like retroactive teases for improved utilization in future seasons: <br><br>&quot;We&apos;ll use all these elements much better down the line folks, don&apos;t worry.&quot;

  this is the episode where the &quot;I&apos;m Fine&quot; trope is the most visible, It&apos;s the one where a character will completely act out of character to keep the plot pushing forward, it doesn&apos;t happen very often in Star Trek The Next Generation, but it was in this one

  This was a guilty pleasure episode: silly, baffling, patchy, and so very season one. Underrated. 😜
