Alright let's hear from you... 🗣️

At what point does whimsymaxxing stop being fun/cute, and start becoming ridiculous?? 🤣

This rhinestone whimsymaxxing feels like "landfillcore but sparkly" more than the vibe of "having a little fairy tea party with a tiny frog in a cottage in the woods" that I've always gotten from whimsical content. There's nothing cozy or honest about it.

They haven’t moved away from the clean girl aesthetic they’re just putting rhinestones on it… and it feels like everyone is trying to be unique but nobody wants to be different or weird

Crafters everywhere are lying in wait for the rhinestones to go on sale once the whimsy-maxxing trend fades

Genuinely how do people live like this? Just hopping from trend to trend, only ever able to enjoy things for a short time while they're in the spotlight.

I think this trend is so cute but I do see how it can be very wasteful on the disposable products

This also reminds me that months and months ago I remember seeing this cute short that a girl had a ton of rhinestone pages in a car and she goes to put one on the person next to her and it pans over to her stoic boyfriend completely covered in gems 😂 I loved it! It was so cute!
But then, after that initial one I started seeing SO many of them trying to catch that lightning in a bottle.
That video was definitely whimsical, the following ones lost whimsy because it was already done before, there's no twist to it either. It just carbon copies of each other based on the original.

Reminds me of two things: 1) Mabel from Gravity Falls bedazzling her face (and maybe an owl?) and 2) I used to put a couple of little gem things near my eyes in high school when I was 14ish. It is weird what ends up being a trend years later.

I feel like each year trends get shorter and shorter. Heck, one of the trends i joined literally ended OVERNIGHT when people literally couldn’t even find something else to hop on

Whimsy to me means doing things in a flightful fancy NOT purposefully because it's an internet trend. Credentials: From 15-21 I drew everything from a moon, dots, flowers, bees, clouds as part of my eyeliner because I WANTED to. There was no deeper purpose and when I first started it was absolutely weird. This is the product of being chronically online, we need to leave our houses and go outside to develop a sense of personal style guys!

I think we need to separate out the KarJenner trenders from actual whimsical content. Sticking gems on shit JUST because an influencer did it isn't whimsical, it's attempting to buy a personality.

Apparently these people haven't experienced the mental gymnastics of sticker placement we've all had as kids. I love rhinestones ever since but I only put them in my stuff that I see often because their purpose is to spark joy. If they want a whimsical coffee cup, why not just draw silly stuff on it like commoners like me do?? 😭 caring for the environment should be the hot girl trend, not this!
