HAL is our fav to Alaska. August will be our 2nd sailing to Alaska on HAL and our 4th HAL sailing. What wasn'y mentioned is the ships purchase fresh seafood from locals and is served in the MDR and specialty restaurants.

I don’t know… watching the glaciers from a window table in the buffet doesn’t sound so bad 😊

I've done two previous Alaska cruises. One with HAL & one with Princess. We've got a 28 day Alaska adventure this summer with HAL. One additional thought, HAL offers a land tour / cruise combo, which is how we were introduced to Alaska. We spent a week on trains, busses and river boats, seeing the interior of this great land. HAL doesn't have fancy shows or entertainment, but leans heavily into education, naturalists and local cultures. You'll come away feeling like you were part of something, rather than an outsider looking in.

I understand why some people focus on Glacier Bay not being on the itinerary, but it’s not accurate to say you don’t experience glaciers on Celebrity Edge. The ship typically scenic cruises through Endicott Arm up to Dawes Glacier, which delivers dramatic fjord scenery, waterfalls, floating ice, and a very impressive glacier at the end.

Glacier Bay is a different experience with multiple glaciers and National Park rangers on board, so if that specific destination is a must, that’s fair. But the Edge itinerary still provides meaningful glacier viewing.

One thing that really stood out to us was the quality of the enrichment program. Celebrity Edge had some of the best storytellers and experts on Alaska’s history and wildlife that we’ve experienced. I didn’t expect to enjoy the seminars as much as we did, but they were engaging, well presented, and added real context to what we were seeing outside. It elevated the entire trip.

The Infinite Veranda rooms were another highlight. The floor to ceiling windows gave unobstructed views during scenic cruising, and the blackout shades were essential with Alaska’s long daylight hours. Waking up to glacier scenery without even stepping into a hallway was pretty special.

Different itinerary than Glacier Bay, but still a strong and well rounded Alaska experience

We recently cruised Alaska. Your recommendation to not let an excursion canceled ruin your trip was great. We had one of our most anticipated excursion canceled due to bad weather. We followed your advice and had a great day. Thanks!

We love the chill vibe on Holland America. The port presentations, the live music and quality food focus. It's the only one we will ever go with.

I like Holland America to Alaska because of smaller ships and fewer people!

MSC Poesia is actually in dry dock right now being upgraded for the Alaska season. The will have a yacht club when it is back in service.

Disney cruise in Alaska sounds bizarre. Alaska itself is so amazing, that even little kids are awed by it, I didn’t see kids looking bored by Alaska. I’d recommend Disney cruise for somewhere with open sea days without scenery or long port days so you can fully enjoy the ship.

Our first cruise to Alaska was a HAL cruisetour. The cruise was great. Comfortable, great staff and views. However when it came to the land tour portion it started out great with the White Pass & Yukon train to Fraser. There, we boarded a bus to Whitehorse. A very scenic drive. Day 2 started out well. Back on the bus to Dawson City with several stops in places like Minto and Carcross along the Klondike Highway. About halfway to Dawson City is when this tour fell apart. We pulled off the road for a so called "rest" break. In the middle of nowhere. Driver and tour coordinator are off in private talking. After about 30 minutes our sister bus caught up to us. This was not supposed to happen. We knew something was wrong. After they were all done huddling we are informed that our driver has timed out on his hours and can no longer drive! So, imagine sitting on the side of the highway for hours waiting for HAL to find us a replacement driver. We got to Dawson City too late for anything but a rushed dinner and bed! For our trouble HAL offered us each a $50 onboard credit where our only option to use it was their hotel in Denali. Gee, thanks! For me the moral is that I will never do a cruise tour again and I will never get on a "motorized coach" again. Having said all that though we did get to go to the Yukon and we did see the Northern Lights so not a total loss. My last trip to Alaska we flew to Anchorage and rented a RV. Went where and when we wanted. Much better. My next trip to Alaska is upcoming and I am looking forward to a relaxed cruise with Princess. No organized excursions planned this time.
