It's a very short list of players who have the career slam. Maria has one. Respect should be given.

My 12 year old self will never ever forget’08 Aussie Open. New blue courts & Maria dominated that tournament. What a moment in time 💙

Sharapova was incredible at the 2008 Australia open. It was one of the highest level ever produced in women's tennis history. The 2nd set against Henin was excellent.

I remember being disappointed how easily Davenport lost to Maria in the 2008 AO, winning just four games, but when I saw Maria win her next four rounds losing four games or fewer, including against Dementieva, Jankovic and world no 1 Henin, I was like huh - maybe Maria is just on fire 😂

Great discussion, thank you! Lindsay barely escaped her first round opponent in Melbourne, 2008, winning 7-5 in the 3rd set against Sara Errani.

Each of us is a different world, as diverse as a parallel universe. Someone even said that one person differs from another as much as a horse from a worm. Despite these differences, we somehow manage to communicate with each other. I am deeply grateful to Maria for revealing to us her world, so unique, honest, and beautiful. I tip my hat to Andy Roddick for these magical mystery tours he produces for us.

Love Maria…. Would love to see Andy interview Jelena Jankovic, I saw she recently did an interview for the first time in many years.

Maria may have made a lot of noise out there and never seemed too happy on the court, but no doubt she had a terrific career and was an outstanding player.  A serious shotmaker. ❤
