  I'm a truck driver. I was on US 15 and there was a restaurant right at the PA/NY line. I was hungry. I parked my truck there to get a burger. I took two steps into the establishment. It got automatically quiet and all eyes were on me. I noticed it immediately. I was no longer hungry.   I turned around,  briskly walked to my truck and got out of there.

  BIack american here: I was in a medical field program in college that required us to travel to different hospitals semesters at a time to obtain clinical experience. And i was sent to this one city, which was pretty small in ohio. I had to be at this hospital location from 8am-4:30pm. And i lived like 2hrs away from this location. So i had to be there when it was dark out and leave when it was about to be sundown. The way this town felt with me being there made me feel so unsettled. And then found out later on with research that the town there use to be an all bIack town before it became a sundown town. I couldn’t wait to be finished and outta there. But don’t get me wrong, the hospital employees were nice and welcoming and even asked me if i was interested in doing an interview there to work there when i finished school. But i basically declined the offer. Because there were not very many melanated people that worked there and hardly seen there in public. I also had no family that lived near there. So all i thought about single, bIack femaIe living in a town with hardly any bIack people is not worth the job.
