You figured out immediately what took me 2 or 3 tries to realize. The closer your shape is to something that can be made from paper/cardboard, the easier it is to make in metal. Simple forming is so much easier than having to shrink/stretch. Your template was near perfect. Little to no trimming filing to get the edge to match up. Makes the welding so much easier if the joints are tight. Congrats!

&apos; It is for a road racing bike so I wasn&apos;t looking for perfection&apos;<br>I&apos;ll take your word for it. &nbsp; If it wasn&apos;t perfection it was pretty damn close.

I’ve seen others, calling themselves as “ Experts “ and “ Professionals “ making motorcycle gas tanks , using hammers and English wheels. It takes too long time. You’re a true professional, since you have applied basic knowledge and principles.

Hi mate and thank you for giving me a mention on your brilliant video of first attempt at making an aluminium petrol (gas) tank. I must say it turned out to be excellent and it reminded me a bit of myself (lol) watching you make it from start to finish. The front mounting points look rather similar to the old Yamaha RD 250 cc race bikes from the 1970&apos;s. I don&apos;t know if you have, but I would respectfully suggest that you use some rubber strips or similar around your top frame tubes (or along bottom of tank) so that the vibrations don&apos;t cause any fatigue cracks in the alloy tank if they contact each other. Anyway I enjoyed watching your video and thanks again, glad I inspired you. All the best, cheers, Pete Williams.
