Ive just been offered some lovely British Racing Green enamel to repaint my MG I was a bit nervous. Ive always sprayed. But my late father coach painted a few vehicles and the finish was like a Rolls Royce - so I thought I would give it a go. This video has given me the confidence to paint a treasured car.........wish me luck. Best video Ive seen Thank You.

SUPERB tutorial video there Mr. Barnard. I've heard all the myths and stories about coach painting over the years and it's just great to see a professional like yourself explaining the techniques, sharing many years of hard won experience and , naturally..... making it all look so bloody EASY!!?? I particularly liked your advice about using the paint, as formulated by the manufacturers, I've used all sorts over the years and it is absolutely true..... use the right technique , and you'll get the right finish! ;-)

Like you said, paints today dry quicker. I've been paint boats (as a kid) since 1976 and the urethane paint hasn't change in all these years. It drys quickly and can sag. Penetrol added makes the process so much better and the paint looks better albeit transparent so sometimes you need to paint several times, but longer dry time and no sags.
