    <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHBsoQWGDwg&amp;t=625">10:25</a> no matter how strong that slot is, you need to support your GPU. <br><br>The slot isn&apos;t the only part that can break and cause sagging, which also causes issues.

    I picked my board by most of what you mentioned, however one big factor for me was the USB connections it has, a Bios Flash button and a proper error indicator. After years of building a PC I found that &quot;ease of life&quot; functions are a must.

    Solid guide. One thing I&apos;d add from the repair bench: this list covers what makes a board fast, but almost nothing on it is what actually kills boards.<br><br>In my experience, dead boards very rarely die from a weak VRM. They die from cheap stuff nobody compares on a spec sheet - LED and USB headers with no fuse and no protection diode, so a shorted RGB strip or a bad front-panel cable goes straight into a controller chip. The frustrating part is you mostly can&apos;t check for this before buying. Manufacturers don&apos;t publish it, and two boards on the same chipset can differ.
