  My son in law and his parents and brothers lived in a 14th century castle in Wales.  He was the youngest of 4 sons.  He said they lived in the part easiest to update while the rest was a playground of sorts for the boys.  I would’ve loved that!

  I live in Scotland, and within just a 15-minute drive there are numerous inhabited castles, including Glamis Castle, Kinettles Castle, Cortachy Castle, Thornton Castle, Careston Castle, Finavon Castle, Inverquharity Castle, Brechin Castle, Airlie Castle, Colliston Castle, Balintore Castle (formerly a hunting lodge), Melgund Castle, Guthrie Castle, Claypotts Castle, and Kinnaird Castle, to name only a few. And that's just within Angus, all located roughly 15 miles from my home. We are incredibly fortunate to live in such a beautiful and historic part of the country. X

  I’ve been in several private homes that are smaller “castles” in Scotland. Equally old. With Priest Holes or Rooms, wobbly floors, smelling of beeswax & pot pourri. They NEED staff unfortunately- the housework involved is huge, you have to have money to pay for a housekeeper. The people I knew grew up in the houses, were almost organically connected to them. They were old Scottish gentry. Poor if their chequing account was down to £10,000. They did enormous amounts of work for charities for free and canvassing for local environmental causes. The two older people I knew were absolute gems. Never to be replicated.

  We traveled Scotland by motorcycle nearly 30 years ago, Dunvegan was one of our primary destinations. It was a privilege to be able to tour the castle.<br>It&apos;s unlikely due to my age, but it is a place I would visit again.

  We had dinner with the Earl of Glasgow, in his castle home, on a tour &nbsp;of Scotland years ago. It was all delightful.

We live in a beautiful area. X

  In 1979, my highschool best friend and I spent a vacation in Scotland, and one of the places we visited was in the far north of Scotland, The Castle of Old Wick. It&apos;s really very small, and at that time there were no signs or fences. We stood inside it and tried to imagine living in it.

  I just returned from Scotland. Visitng many castles I was amazed by them. It is wonderful some are still inhabited and cared for. I wish they would repair them all.

  Very good friends of our family/our neighbors in Ireland are Scottish Lords and Ladies and currently live in a castle in Scotland, it&apos;s absolutely beautiful

  My daughter married a man from Scotland, so of course our interest piqued and I found a fundraiser by one of the castles to purchase a tiny plot of titled land for a donation to the castle and in return you get the ‘title’ that goes with the land. I made purchases for my family and my four great nephews it’s fun that we can participate in the historic restoration of such a beautiful place, hopefully someday I’ll get to go there and stand on my tiny piece of land.😊
