  I like the idea that for most animals humans are basically cryptids. Most animals rarely see humans, we walk on 2 legs always, have almost no hair,smell weird, are usually noisy, and as far as an animal is concerned can kill you from a distance with a loud noise

  Ojibwe woman here🙋🏽‍♀️. I love how much you focus on indigenous history and oral traditions. You asked…so ima let you know. Nanaboozhoo, also known sometimes as Wenaboozhoo is where the word Boozhoo comes from. Boozhoo means hello. Nanaboozhoo is pronounced like nana ( same way you would call your grandma nana), boo (like the boo you hear on Halloween), and zhoo (should sound kinda like the jiu in jiujitsu).   Search and rescue team member here. If you insist on going out and doing what this guy did, remote backcountry solo camping, at the VERY LEAST send family or friends your campsite&apos;s precise GPS coordinates. If you don&apos;t have a GPS, why don&apos;t you have a GPS? Get a standalone GPS device, don&apos;t rely on your phone for backcountry work.<br><br>It wouldn&apos;t have saved him, but at the very least they would have found his campsite on day one, hour one of the search. He clearly had cell service if he was able to send his family the messages that were mentioned, and Garmin has a service that lets users of certain GPS models send text messages to other people&apos;s cell phones via satellite for a monthly fee.<br><br>Edit- unrelated thought: did the police reports indicate that other magazines in the camp were also loaded to 12 rounds, or were they empty or completely full? There&apos;s some people out there who were taught that you shouldn&apos;t load a magazine to full capacity and leave it like that for extended periods of time, as it&apos;s supposedly bad for the spring (especially in cold weather). I&apos;m not looking to start a debate on whether or not that&apos;s factually true or not, but it could be an explanation of why it was 12 out of 15, since most people who believe that advocate for 75-80% capacity if you&apos;re just leaving a mag loaded indefinitely, and 12 of 15 certainly is in that range.
