As a child , I noticed the visual similarities of all these brands. The 70s , 80s & 90s were just too obvious to ignore.

When I was younger and dumber I bought a beater Cadillac for cheap when I was in college. The starter went out and I went to their parts department for a replacement. A kindly parts man said "here's the Cadillac starter, it's $400, and just to make conversation this other one is a Chevy starter, it's $200, they may look the same, but there's a difference". I asked what the difference was and he said "the Cadillac starter is painted blue". I said I'd take the Chevy starter please. He just smiled and handed me the starter. That was the first and last GM product I'll ever own.

I remember the "Chevymobile" scandal. Most of the people I knew of were not mad about the engine. They were mad because they were charged the Oldsmobile price.

I recall my neighbor in Hawaii, an airline mechanic, when he proudly brought home his new Oldsmobile…he couldn’t wait to show me his ‘rocket V-8 . When he lifted the hood his face went slack, “where the hell is my rocket V-8???”
