"We're whalers on the Moon, we carry a harpoon. But there ain't no whales so we tell tall tales and sing a whaling tune."

You don't have a moon in the 24th century?

Sure, it just different in my time. You could see Tycho City, New Berlin ...even Lake Armstrong on a day like this.

I wonder if there are moon landing hoaxers in the 25th century.

"Mankind has never walked on the moon!"
"But we're on the moon right now!"
"Are we?"
"You were born here!"
"That doesn't prove anything. Why can we breathe?"
"WE'RE IN A DOME!!!"

What is very frustrating is that by the early 25th century, the Moon should be colonized and Mars both colonized and fully terraformed - but when we see images of the Moon and Mars, they look EXACTLY like they do today. Like even in "Picard" we SHOULD have seen cities and bodies of water and patches of green on Mars. And yeah, there SHOULD be a LARGED domed-over Lake Armstrong.

The scene between Jake Sisko and Dorian Collins in "Valiant" is actually one of my favorite examples of quality world building. It connects a sci-fi future to character and narrative, and the performances by Cirroc Lofton and Ashley Brianne McDonogh really sell it. Lately, Andor has been approaching the Star Wars universe in a similar way, and I love it.

Did they ever find the moonbase that contained fans of the Austrian painter?

I wish Star Trek would show us more of the moon, or mars, or other sol colonies. I get that the galaxy as a whole is interesting, but I'd love more deep dives into the things that connect us to the universe in our own solar system.

I hope that Starfleet Academy will answer a lot of unknowns about these places, I would imagine it has to considering it won't be able to leave the confines of sol that often.

The crazy thing is - we could already have a base on the moon

The sea of Tranquility became a resort and holiday destination eh?
"We're whalers on the moon, we carry our harpoon, but there aint no whales so we tell tall tails and sing our whailing tune!"

We don't hear enough about the moon on Star Trek. Thank you. I will look for an episode on Mars. If you don't have one then hopefully you will soon.
