Some actors played tough guys. Lee Marvin actually lived it. That’s why betrayal in Hollywood hit him harder than anyone else.

Lee Marvin was the real deal. I’ve been in a real gunfight arresting armed robbery suspects & it’s an experience you cannot mistake for anything else.

My father was a WWII Veteran, decorated hero. I would choose him over any actor veteran or not.

I always liked Lee Marvin. And my father loved him. My father was a radio operator and gunner in. b-25 bomber during WW2
I have a certificate given to my father by the Air Force. His it crew flew 70 missions a during the war.
And yes, he was being shot at once and had to mantle machine gun and fire back when enemy planes were attacking the B-25.
Became a lieutenant in the NYFD and risked his lifetime save a fellow fireman in 1972.
His photo was on the front page of the Daily News newspaper the next day.
THANK YOU for this documentary about Lee Marvin.
Now I’m understand even more fully why my father admired Lee so much.

When you see that 100 yard stare. The ptsd moments of recall reflection. Then give solace and respect to such men for they carry their friends.. still. For the greatest gift is of a brother who lays down his life for you; another brother. Such courage and fortitude, such sacrifice cannot ever be truly replicated.. it is earned. WTF .. why the frown!! The experience of such pain is a depth of knowledge beyond expression. An endurance in accepting the unacceptable. But conclude the integrity of the soul is love without ego. This I find in Mr. Lee Marvin.

when you take that oath, man, you write a check that includes your very life. If you're never called upon to cash that check, that's the breaks, because it could easily have gone the opposite direction.
