It’s still hard to believe if they didn’t delay the movie to change Sonic’s design then we wouldn’t have never gotten a sonic trilogy it’s insane

No where near the first person to say this but damn Jim Carrey is great. The man is 60 years old and yet he still has the same energetic and unique sense of humour that made him so popular in the 90s. I'm so glad he still gets the same love today

55:22 Fun fact, Tails is the ONLY character in the Sonic movies to have their original voice actor from the games/shows to come back and play them again in the movies.

I admit I was skeptical at first when Jim Carrey was announced to play Eggman. After watching the movie, I can't believe I ever doubted him.
He plays Eggman with his usual goofy, wacky self yet he still gives him an unhinged, intimidating side. No better actor than him for this role.

This isn’t exactly a hot take, but I think that Jim Carrey is the secret sauce of this movie (and the entire trilogy). His absurdist take on Robotnik allows Sonic, a CGI hedgehog-shaped inter-dimensional being, to come off even more grounded and relatable. It’s basically Sonic vs. “The Mask”.

When Sonic says he hates mushrooms, is a callback to his rivarly with Mario who loves mushrooms.

Sonic, Sonic 2, Knuckles tv series, Sonic 3 in this order.

The fact he hated mushrooms was definitely a reference to Mario

It's so funny how this movie references Speed and Keanu Reeves (rightfully calling him a "national treasure") and then the third movie, they have Keanu voice Shadow 😂

A blue CGI hedgehog has more expression than the animals in The Lion King live-action remake. Read it and weep, Disney!

 YES!!
This is a great video game movie adaptation!
They did the character justice after the controversial trailer was dropped, giving Sonic a more human look, which caused an outrage amongst the video game community, forcing Paramount to give Sonic his signature design.
