For as funny as Dr. Robotnik is, I love that the movies made sure to establish he isn't just funny. He's dangerously competant and a genuine threat

Fun fact: if you listen closely to the soundtrack when Sonic and Knuckles are trapped in the flooding temple, you can hear the iconic “drowning music” playing in the background.

Something fun about these movies is they actually made full-sized, accurate posable mannequins of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles in order to help the actors with sight lines and role immersion, they weren't just tennis balls on sticks

I love how Tails is the only one to have his original VA come back to voice him. Also, Idris Elba is allegedly a Sonic fan irl.

Just a little bit of Sonic trivia:

1. In the first movie, during the bar fight sequence, he consumed a few "chili dogs," and here in the second film, he eats one during the beginning of his vigilantism attempt and during the end when he goes Super Sonic. That's a reference to the games and the comics, where chili dogs are Sonic's favourite food!

Similarly, when Knuckles asks them if ice cream "has grapes in it," it's because, also for Knuckles, grapes are his favourite food! All the Sonic characters have their own canonical favourite foods.

2. Sonic's dislike for water also comes from the games, being that you can't swim in them, which extends to Sonic, who also can't swim.

fun-yet depressing fact: sonics size grows throughout the trilogy, not because he’s growing up,but because he had no one to feed him properly through his childhood(he was so freaking tiny in the 1st movie)but he found a family to ACTUALLY feed him well, hope this doesn’t bring tears to you😊😊😊

Sonic 3 was by far my favorite. The final act of that movie is just insane 😂

While the first film felt like a very standard video game movie, Sonic 2 really feels like their embracing the Sonic universe and the characters people love

Despite his voice, Knuckles is actually only a little older than Sonic, puberty just hit that boy like a truck, it gives them all a nice brotherly dynamic with Knuckles being the gruff older brother, Sonic being the energetic middle child and Tails being the adorable and smart younger sibling.
