  French here 🇫🇷 &nbsp;- I think you’re right : our values are probably a little different. We don’t place quite the same emphasis on social status or material possessions. We’re not really caught up in that endless “who dies with the most toys wins” race.<br>Personally, I could afford a really nice car, but I just don’t see the point. My little Peugeot 208 does everything I need it to do, so why spend a fortune on something I don’t really need ?<br>But that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate nice things, quite the opposite ! I think the French have a real appreciation for beauty and aesthetics, and you see it everywhere. After all, we’re the country of fashion and luxury. It can be something as simple as the way a pretty village is beautifully planted and decorated with flowers. We may not feel the need to own everything beautiful, but we certainly enjoy looking at it!

  Everything related to food is almost sacred in France. Because it&apos;s the first vector of socialization in French culture.<br>In France, food is not only a natural biological obligation, it&apos;s not just about gluttony or the pleasure of eating well... it&apos;s first and foremost the primary vehicle for socialization.<br>It explains all these habits and rituals around food. The long time of meals, the lunch break out of work, the &quot;aperitif hour&quot; before the meal, the wine culture to enjoy the moment a little... etc...<br>Because the meal and all the habits that surround it are what will allow people to not just eat, but spend time together, meet people, discuss, be joyful, make friends...<br>Food is the pretext, the thing around which people gather, to socialize.

  Sans doute le meilleur comparatif entre les cultures sociales française et anglo-saxonne que j&apos;aie regardé. Même si quelques jugements et détails puissent être trop accentués ou un peu négligés, cela reste un clip vidéo très sympa et bien équilibré.

  Moi, je suis américain et j&apos;ai vécu en France pendant pesque 6 ans!<br><br>Quand je suis arrivé &nbsp;c&apos;était pour étudier un an des études de &quot;international business &quot; mes couilles. Mais, après un an j&apos;ai eu une &nbsp;espèce de prise de conscience et j&apos;ai commencé à changer ma façon de regarder le monde. Je voulais pas rentrer aux usa, mais j&apos;étais obligé. Comme on dit en anglais &quot;I went native&quot;, j&apos;ai appris la langue, j&apos;adore la bouffe, &nbsp;la rélation que les français ont entre le travail et le pognon c&apos;est complètement différent par rapport aux américain s. <br>Ce monsieur anglais a raison.<br>Merci bien

  as a french I can confirm all your points and they&apos;re kind of all related. a nice person weight more than its status. as a business, owner i prefer hire a good mentality than a huge resume, because work can be learned quickly for someone motivated, but a bad personality is toxic and really hard to change. same for friendship and any action you engage in your social life

  And that’s what I loved every time I went. &nbsp; I could swim with something and finally relax. &nbsp; The culture shock was coming home. &nbsp;Wonderful video. &nbsp;I will add; landing in America the energy even in the airport was exhilarating and it was wonderful to watch the Brits, Asians, Germans and others all let loose. &nbsp;Exploring was allowed. &nbsp;The whole world is worth saving.

  American here. I liked your description of the meal. One thing that stuck with me as a 19 yr old newbie in Paris in the early &apos;70&apos;s was that often, often, often the desert was fruit... or... there was fruit and desert. (same thing in Italy at that time.) &nbsp;The fruit also plays into the &quot;health&quot; thing you talk about.

  Yeah, good one, from the horse’s mouth, 1st hand!😊 I moved here for work late nineties ( date, not my age) and never left. Can’t stress enough the importance of meals together, family or friends, big gatherings or small, autour d’un verre, when you often see the best side of people. There are those, as in GB, who think they’ve made it because they’ve got the most recent dishwasher or robot vacuum cleaner, but … leave those people to their own devices. <br>Le seul bémol : more and more young people not eating in company or keeping regular mealtimes, particularly in bigger towns and cities
