Does anyone posting here have opinions of living in Ireland vs. Wales? Thank you!

Regarding culture, we live in a town in the east of the country and one Friday evening my wife asked me to pick up her prescription from our local pharmacy. she had just phoned it thorugh, but the pharmacy was about to close. She told them I was on the way but I might be a minute or two late. I got there just in time and the staff had their coats on, ready to leave. I said something about being in the nick of time, and one of them replied, "We'd have left it with the 24-hour doctor's office next door for you anyway." I asked how they would have taken payment in such a scenario. The answer, "Sure we'd have got you next time you came in."

I moved here 23 years ago. Quality of life is beautiful. There is room in the country to breathe, especially in the west. If it weren't for family I would never visit the UK again

I found that basic food like bacon, beef, pork vegetables, milk, bread etc is better quality in Ireland than in England.

I live in Australia. 8 years ago, my favourite cat was killed by a venomous snake. My grief was so great I decided to leave this hot, dry, burnt, snake infested place that has never felt like home for the cool, misty, snake free climes of Ireland. I dreamed of it nightly. Then my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. I am now trapped here, grieving my dream of Ireland and watching my daughter suffer. But that's life. Obviously, my dream is not the same as the plan the Universe has for me. I can only live my dream vicariously through YT channels. Thanks for posting anything about the land of my dreams. 🍀

From 1990 to 2006, my wife and I traveled to Ireland six times. We covered the entire Republic. We came to love the west coast the best. Our base for a few days would be a lovely B&B overlooking the Atlantic near Doolin. Then we would make the incredibly scenic drive to Clifden, spend the night, then back again to Doolin. And, yes, we would eventually go to the Ring of Kerry. It was truly magical. We had planned to go back in 2008, but she started having medical issues, and we never went back. But, I have many wonderful memories of our trips. You chose well.

We moved here 10 years ago and your observations were a great summary of living in rural Ireland. We are looking to move back though. With no public transport, taxis and too far for food deliveries it is no longer working out, as we become more incapacitated in our health and with no other family. Like you, our property was unlived in for 10 years. We have never experienced any anti English sentiment until recently. In fact when we arrived, the locals were delighted to see the cottage restored and new life breathed back in to the rural community, after so many left these shores. We wish you all the best and thank you for your videos. We are probably only a few miles from you. Ireland has been very good to us and we will take back the goodwill with us. It is a kinder way here we have found and we all need more of the Irish way of life. We hope when we do move, someone will find a new home and way of life here and love it as much as we have.

I am Irish and I agree with everything you say. One thing I would add, is that I think country Ireland is not a good place to grow old. That weather that ruins your tools is a bit hostile to old bones too. Isolation is the downside of quiet country life.

I think your comments and observations are pretty much spot on.
My wife and I came to Ireland after a couple of decades in Africa.
We live in a very rural community.
We were still working age back in 2000 and the Celtic Tiger was still roaring (a little bit)
We planned to give it two years to raise a bit of capital before returning to England, the land of our birthplace.
25 years later we're still here.
Now, after about fifty years or so of not living in England, we find it a bit of a culture shock on the rare occasions that we visit.
Obviously peoples and places change with time but the England of today is a whole world away from the one that we left, half a century ago.
We love England but...couldn't swap it for the life we enjoy here in Ireland.
