I'm a Brit. Your VP called us "some random country that hasn't fought a war in 30 or 40 years". This is despite us losing brave young soldiers coming to your aid when you became the ONLY country EVER to activate NATO article 5 after 9/11.

I'll not go where I'm not wanted, and many Brits feel the same.

I went to the US back in 2006, flying in from my country, The Netherlands. Did my homework, all documents where valid and so forth. Still I got detained and questioned for over 3,5 hours. First questions where about the airport of origin, Amsterdam. They thought I was smuggling drugs because I'm living just north of the city. Second line of questions where about my travel plans. We hired a car and made some reservations in motels to see some national parks and big cities, that was to vage according to the homeland security officer. They also destroyed my suitcase to find drugs that I didn't (and still don't) have. After interrogation there was no "sorry", no "thank you for your cooperation", nothing of that. It was the most terrifying and hostile experience I've ever had. I'll never come to the states again!

No Tyler, its MINOR overstays, like your plane being delayed, or flight cancelled, or having to stay cos you've had an accident and are in hospital, or in one case having your spouse die during your visit!!!

Yesterday a Norwegian news channel straight up said; We advice you to not visit America for the next few years, or until people "over there" (as we call USA) changes their laws back to a bit more general normal "human Rights Law" from the Hague.

Hey Tyler. I’m glad you’re addressing this. It’s not about being “denied entry” and then sent back home. It’s about being held illegally, and possibly never being able to see your home again or, in some cases, scooped up, and sent back to a hostile nation, that you were escaping and legally accepted by the United States.

I can understand that Americans are tired of certain things, but just out of curiosity, I’d like to share my little story. I’m an Italian guy, I have no criminal record, I have a job, and in the past, I’ve been to the United States because I love it—always for vacation. Ten years ago, I went to San Diego for 14 days—an amazing vacation. Then, seven years ago, I visited LA for 10 days—fantastic. Five years ago, I spent 10 days in San Francisco—beautiful. This year, I wanted to go back again for a 10 to 15-day vacation in Texas, where I even have a friend who would have helped me explore the cities better. I was supposed to go in February.

I made all the arrangements and applied for the ESTA... After 10 days, I received a denial and was told I’d need to apply for a visa. Fine. I made an appointment, paid $300, went to the embassy in January, did the interview, and the lady asked me, “Why do you want to visit the United States?” I replied, “Because I want to take a 10-day vacation and visit some cities in Texas as well.” She told me that my request would need to be reviewed and that it would take at least six months, but that I most likely wouldn’t get the visa. She didn’t even look at my documents.

I tried to ask why, but she didn’t answer. She gave me a code to check the status of my application online. It’s now May 2nd, and my application is still under review. The website says to call the embassy for more information, but when I do, they tell me to check the website. I don’t know about you, but this feels like a joke. I also know I won’t get back the $40 spent on the ESTA or the $300 for the embassy interview. So, if people aren’t coming to the States, maybe it’s also because you now have nonsense rules, and to me, it feels like theft.

I'm Irish... so many of us are canceling trips to the US and boycotting goods where possible.

Every country has the right to deny entry to anyone. That isnt the issue here. People are being imprisoned for weeks without being permitted legal representation, contact with their embassy, not allowed to let their families know where they are or even being told why they are being detained.

25 people from our company were supposed to go to the USA for training for less than a month, but due to the political situation, everything was canceled because we are ending cooperation with an American company and changing suppliers to a company from Germany... and from what I've heard, several companies are considering a similar step...
