This is literally my story. I started during Covid at the age of 34. Never picked up a club before that. Started with the short game the moved back. A car accident cause three slipped discs. Closest to scratch was 1.08. Right now I’m 5.4 at the age of 41. Not a single lesson. There’s periods of time where I can’t play bc of my back and when it comes to playing once I hit hole 14 I’m pretty much done bc my back. Wish I had played when I was younger

At the age of 72 I'm a 21.7 handicap.I have no interest in getting to scratch. All I care about is having fun and hitting the occasional good shot. The one thing I've taken from golf is you've got to be realistic.

The thing is, all the stats say the difference between being great or being one of the rest is driving and long game. The anecdote proves that learning from the hole back makes you better than 95% of golfers.<br>A guy who knew nothing about golf started putting, then chipping, then irons and then driver got 2.6. Most people play for 50 years and never break 90

Paudrig Harrington, of three majors fame, is a must listen if you want to improve at golf he plays ProAms most weeks on the Senior Tour and says a minuscule percentage of golfers play to win ( he did ) the rest just want to hit the ball well. He recommends that half an hour practicing the short game two or three times a week will knock ten shots off your handicap but no one does it. When he won his second major at Birkdale he practiced getting up and down from sixty yards for five hours on the eve of the final day.

I attended Campbell&apos;s PGM program back in 2010 through 2014. Outlier was a book assigned to us to read. Golf is 20,000 hours. And the reason being is that the field is never the same in all the variances that happen in golf. Whether it be injuries, aging, and weather.

great video! I love this. I&apos;m 53. I am leaving my full time career to record the journey of trying to become the oldest rookie on the LPGA. As a longevity doctor, I want to see what happens when I take all I&apos;ve learned and used with patients over the years and apply it tom myself at 53. &nbsp;I&apos;m a 7 now, so it&apos;s a crazy, audacious goal, but I&apos;m pumped to try! Really, it&apos;s about the journey, not about making it to the tour. I need to reach out to Dan and learn from his journey! I think this video showing up on my feed is confirmation I should try!

I can hit 13 fairways in regulation all over 250 yards and still score a lousy 83. Approach play , chipping and putting are the great separators.

I&apos;ve been at it for 4 years and am currently 15.3. I know I&apos;ll never get to scratch but I am still improving and I hit lots of great shots per round. I&apos;ll be happy if I can get to high single digits. Also: scratch players may not put it in the fairway much more that mid HCP but they damn sure hit it longer and leave the ball in better positions than mid HCP. Near fairway/near green is a thing. They also have far less penalty strokes off of the tee as compared to higher HCP golfers. Great video too; very enjoyable!

Great attempt here. Gotta give this video lots of credit. I would like if they looked at the fact the traditional golf technique actually caused the ingury Dan got. I would bet if the swing technique was improved Dan would not have gotten hurt.

I think most everyone can get really good at something if they try hard enough. But I think that there is an innate capacity that separates elites in any field. No amount of effort will overcome that. Anyone who ever participated in a sport alongside someone who is truly talented knows this, they&apos;re just built different.
