  And most Americans also have 'No idea' about all the times 'America' has stabbed us in the back - from 1947, up to a few days ago. The 'Special Relationship' has always been rather lop-sided in that respect. Fortunately for them, we in the UK are capable of distinguishing between the People (who tend to be kept in the dark about everything) - and the wretched Cabal that 'leads' them!

  On Friday September 11th 2026, the 25th anniversary King Charles ordered the Guards band at Buckingham Palace to once again play the American national anthem. Present was the your Ambassador to the UK, his wife and as the King was in Scotland Prince Richard Duke of Gloucester and his wife the Duchess (cousins of Queen Elizabeth 11) represented the King. It was emotional.

  On the 11th September 2001, my wife was working in the air traffic control tower at Heathrow airport, updating the software. As our son was only 9 months old at that point, I was taking a break from work to look after our son during the day (we were living in a hotel near Heathrow) while my wife was at work. That morning, my son and I had taken a walk into West Drayton (I walked, he sat on my back in a papoose) and by 2pm returned to the hotel. I turned on the TV in our room just in time to watch the second aircraft strike the second tower. I immediately phoned my wife, who informed me that she knew all about it and the control tower was being locked down and then possibly evacuated (as some of the flights from the US were already on their way to the UK and no-one knew if they had bombs onboard). Yes, I very much remember 9/11.

  I was on duty at Transport for London's head office in the operations room. When 9/11 happened our news TVs came into life. We watched in silence. Then we had a meeting to discuss "should London's transport be shut down?", are we in the UK next?. It was decided to carry on as normal. Little did we know, following the attack on London's transport system 4 years later on 7/7/2005, shutting down London's whole transport system is exactly what we would do.

  It's strange to think that this year is the 25th anniversary, and there's now a whole generation who were born after that terrible event, some of whom are now in their  20's and did not witness what happened on that day, so it is now history to them.   In the UK it was another moment like JFK, Princess Diana, when everyone remembers the day vividly.  I was at work when a colleague told me what was happening (2.00 pm in the UK) but I didn't see the footage until I got home in the evening.  My partner had gone into work at 2.00 pm and a television was on.  He asked "what film is this".  His friend replied "it isn't, this is really happening right now".  I remember the next morning going into work on a crowded bus, and it was so quiet, nobody spoke.    Even now there is the odd occasion where an old film or tv programme set in New York can appear on screen and the twin towers are there, and I feel my stomach clench.  There is a mangled piece of the twin towers on display in the Imperial War Museum North.  Every time I see it I feel a chill on the back of my neck.

  I remember that day. It was unreal and so real at the same time. I was in tears the whole day each time I thought of people in the towers and people on the planes and I think now, &nbsp;because I realised that America had not experienced a terrorist attack on its soil of that magnitude before. It was like an ending of innocence. I&apos;ve tried to imagine my feelings if this had happened to any other country in Europe and I don&apos;t think my feelings of loss, anger, despair and empathy would have been as deep. You Americans feel like that troublesome, but loveable &nbsp;cousin sometimes, but no matter what sh*t you pull, you&apos;re <b>*our*</b> troublesome cousin and we have your back and we&apos;ll stand together when we need to. We currently have a government that doesn&apos;t feel that way, but we the people of a certain age still do. I was so proud when HM Queen Elizabeth made that gesture on behalf of her people. God bless America.
