  Raven really paved the way. She was THAT girl. As a black girl growing up, &nbsp;i wanted to be cool like her. I had an amazing childhood and family but i used to think she was so cool and confident and i was truly like thats the type of cool teen i want to be. Confident, enjoying my personal style and not trying to fit in. Just being authentically herself

  The way Raven put on for little black girls during the Disney era will always be legendary<br>We seen so much of ourselves in Raven and she&apos;s still such a huge influence to this day

  Man, her parents groomed her and treated her as a cash cow. She was completely dissociated majority of her life, which is scary honestly. <br><br>She definitely is a icon and paved the way in so many different ways but, her back story is harsh.

  Crazy how she was bullied for her weight when majority of kids &amp; teens who watched the show didn’t care about that. We all watched because she was entertaining &amp; hilarious. <br><br>The media was so cruel towards plus sized woman back then especially plus sized black woman.

  Aside from a couple episodes, I think the character of Raven Symone never really revolved around her size, or her skin colour. There were a couple episodes with storylines pertaining to those as well because they’re relevant, but it wasn’t her WHOLE personality. She wasn’t the token character, she was a regular person with a complex personality. She was a fangirl, a fashionista, quirky, got the “token hot guy” where her weight was not a factor in her romantic relationships the way most other plus size characters were portrayed at the time. ❤<br>Even today we still see the shy, unconfident plus size female characters whose insecurities are the main aspect of their storyline.

  “She’s not a little girl anymore.” Christ, she was five years old! No one was batting an eye at a grown man putting his three year old daughter to work? No one thought it was strange for a 3-5 year old child having a career?? Christ, they did not let her be a kid.
