  Ammonium Nitrate Explosions have a long and frequent history from 1916 to 2026. During this time period there have been around 40 ammonium nitrate explosions. Although Ammonium Nitrate is a common necessary fertilizer for food crops, it is also a hazardous compound that when it gets too hot it explodes. And often these explosions are large, disastrous and a number of people are killed.

  You omit the essential role of ammonium nitrate in WW2 in which it was added to many explosive materials, such as TNT, as a cheap extender.

  9 30 26 &nbsp;one summer day up in the mtn&apos;s west of ft collins CO in the Rist canyon region a big explosion was heard. &nbsp;the direction was from a mile or two or more away from my locatiion at a 600 acre ranch. &nbsp;it came from a nearby valley. not the forest. &nbsp;a very &nbsp;rare &amp; &nbsp;unusual event. &nbsp;a day later i heard the news. &nbsp;some old stored dynamite in a shed was disturbed by a visitor. &nbsp;the disturbance resulted in the nitroglycerine detonating. &nbsp;killing the visitor. &nbsp; <br><br> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;this is mentioned as an example of how an &nbsp;unknown property or improper storage of dynamite led to an accident.<br>and the same distant sound those german people heard that day was an &nbsp;identical experience to those of us that day here in CO . &nbsp; <br><br> <br> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;coincidentally there was a big forest fire up in that same area in the &nbsp;1990&apos;s. &nbsp;and the very cabin i&apos;d been living in was burned up. &nbsp;killing a female adult who was a family member of the land-owning family. &nbsp; her father lost his life via a <br>tractor accident on that land in the 50&apos;s. &nbsp;and her brother who grew up there too is one of the last mia&apos;s of vietnam.

  Missing a very important point - if we actually tried to recycle human waste back into the soil we could reduce nitrate production by around 80%. &nbsp;Rebuilding the organic matter back into soils would lock up significant amount of CO2 and help with global warming. &nbsp;Humans have the amazing ability to stick their heads in the sand and hide from the obvious.
