I Spent Years Not Living Like a Musician

For years, music was a huge part of who I was — but there was a long period of time where I wasn’t living like a musician. I lost belief in myself, and I had a hard time giving myself permission to make mistakes, be a work in progress, or create something without needing it to prove that I was “good enough.” In the last couple of years, that’s been changing. In this video, I take you through a very normal week of trying to live a little more like the artist I want to be: revisiting the lyrics to a couple of older songs, applying some things I learned from a home-recording course, setting up my studio, and finally sitting down to record some takes. None of it is perfect—and that’s kind of the point. If you’ve been feeling stuck creatively, try this: think of one thing your creative self has been quietly asking you to do — write the song, make the demo, sign up for the class, play the open mic, share your work — and dip your toes into it this week. You don’t have to transform your whole life overnight. Just make one small move toward it. 📖 Free songwriting eBook: https://subscribepage.io/T13Uyu 🎵 My songwriting playlist: Song Development If you’re a musician, songwriter or creative who’s spent some time hiding, doubting yourself, or waiting until you feel “ready,” I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
