One of Ireland's longest running murder cold cases. A case that would inspire the idea for a stage play and later movie. Yet, many still don't know the real story behind it. This is the cold case of Moss Moore, and a murder believed to have started with a land ownership dispute between neighbours in County Kerry, Ireland in the late 1950s.

Im only half way through this very insightful video. Im 79. When my father was a young boy a terrible murder took place in our local bog"The great bog of Ardee". The farmer and his son were both killed. Earlier in the day the farmer had sold cattle. I forget the finer details now but the motive was robbery and victims and killers knew each other. Very sad. Great deal of suffering ensued. Lord have mercy on all .🙏

The real tragedy is that two best friends fell out over something so stupid & we're so pigheaded that they went to war with each other over it.... May they BOTH rest in peace

I think Foley was the murderer. He had motive, was a big strong man, and he had scratches on his face. No one else had reason to kill Moss Moore. Why you would kill a friend over 1/2 acre of land is beyond me -- why not just let the judge decide the boundary? Pride must have come into it -- Foley had to win.

Very rural, people are normally murdered by people they know. Foley had motive and scratches from a bull doesnt fly.

Come on now boys and girls ... it's as clear as day who killed this man but been from a small village anywhere in Ireland you have to choose your words because the consequences will travel generations... that's our Ireland of old ... love it or leave it

My father often played cards with Moss Moore in Collins' house. The programme I've seen from several years ago, it basically said it was Dan Foley. Which they shouldn't have. There was no one ever found responsible for the murder. Hearsay and conjecture should have no place in what happened. There was more than Mr. Foley that had reasonable grounds for wanting to see the end of Mr. Moore.

My money's on Dan, to many things, mossy fear of dan, the scrathes, the threat, putting up a fence without, his best friends permission, half an acre in to his advantage who would that?! Strangling someone very personal way of killing, The mystery to me is why they did not build a new fence while getting rid of the old.
